Initial feedback from JetXP trials has been positive, with customers experiencing improved performance in applications such as real-time entertainment, bulk file transfers and web browsing, Viasat reported.

The programme was developed after consultations with partners, customers and research agencies, as well as an analysis of usage trends for last year.

The research highlighted that the industry’s focus has moved beyond mere speed to encompass reliability, coverage, and value for money.

The company will initially upgrade its Jet ConneX service by adding new features including expanded capacity, uncapped speeds and increased network prioritisation.

Jet ConneX service plans are available through a worldwide distribution partners network, which comprises Honeywell, Collins Aerospace and Satcom Direct.

Viasat business aviation head Kai Tang said: “JetXP is the latest example of Jet ConneX’s continuous evolution and offers an entirely different way of thinking, for Viasat and the market as a whole.

“By enhancing our network and unleashing its full power to business aviation customers, we’ll consistently meet a defined quality of experience across different applications, devices and flight routes, from the busiest airports to the most remote locations. And customer trials have already shown these are not empty promises; we have data to back our claims from hundreds of real operators on our live network.”

The launch of JetXP is a key development in aligning Viasat’s service offerings and network management strategy after it acquired Inmarsat last year.

The programme leverages the combined expertise and technology of both companies to benefit customers.
