PCL Construction Services has been awarded a contract for the multi-million dollar construction of Phase I of South Terminal C’s airside terminal at Orlando International Airport in Florida, US.

Construction of the airside terminal is part of the $1.8bn south terminal development plan at the airport.

PCL Construction Services Orlando district manager Rick Goldman said: “We are thrilled to play a leading role in bringing together local and diverse businesses in the construction of Orlando International Airport’s new terminal.

“As part of the nation’s ninth busiest airport for passenger travel, this project will provide a seamless departure and arrival experience for millions of travellers each year.”

The latest domestic and international airport terminal building construction will feature the development of 16 airline gates, along with other related improvements and infrastructure works.

The flexible gate configuration at Orlando International Airport’s terminal building will have the capacity to accommodate  narrow body, jumbo and super jumbo aircrafts.

Scope of the project also includes additional works, such as site work, taxiways, aprons, landscaping, lighting, roadways, walkways, aircraft loading bridges, concessions and security improvements.

Preconstruction on the new airside terminal at Orlando International Airport will commence this month.

Slated to begin in the first quarter of next year, construction of the new project is expected to be completed in October 2019.

The current airside terminal project is PCL’s 12th at Orlando International Airport.

The company is also working on the Main Ticket Lobby Modifications project, which is expected to be completed in December 2017.
