Empresa Argentina de Navegación Aérea (EANA) has reportedly revealed plans to invest $121m in infrastructure and technology after taking full control over the country's air traffic service management.

The company will handle functions such as air traffic management (ATM), aeronautical communications (COM), aeronautical information services (AIS), as well as search and rescue (SAR) operations.

EANA general manager Agustín Rodríguez Grellet said: “We are very excited to take this definitive step as part of EANA’s development by fully taking over the ANS as of today.

The company will ensure that aeronautical activity carried out within the framework of the air navigation public service is safe, efficient, regular, and in line with operational safety guidelines determined by the Civil Aviation Operational Safety Management System of Argentina.

EANA will support growth in national and international air links by developing optimum operational conditions.

The company will also ensure continuous development and training for its highly-skilled staff members, in a bid to enhance air traffic service infrastructure and applied technology.

Argentina Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich emphasised the federal government’s aim to double air traffic in the country in order to provide increased connectivity.
