Air Navigation Solutions (ANS), the UK subsidiary of Germany’s state-owned DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, has won a deal to provide air navigation services at Edinburgh Airport, Scotland, UK.

Under the ten-year deal, the company will install its tower and approach control at the airport by April 2018.

ANS will take over the airport’s current air navigation services from NATS, the main air navigation service provider in the UK.

NATS will continue to provide its staff until ANS has been able to employ enough of its own personnel at the airport.

The sixth busiest airport in the UK, Edinburgh Airport has two runways and handles more than 11 million passengers every year.

A total of 32 airlines serve 122 destinations from the airport, which is owned by American investor Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

In 2015, it witnessed around 115,000 aircraft movements, accounting for a 5% rise in traffic over the previous year.

In March, DFS Group took over operations at Gatwick Airport, the second busiest airport in the UK.

DFS Group provides air navigation services from German control centres in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe and Munich.

It also has 16 control towers at international airports across the country.
