Germany-based Materna has provided a new self-service bag drop solution at Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Designed to allow several airlines to check in their luggage autonomously, the new solution will boost the airport’s passenger handling capability.

Toronto Pearson, which handled 41 million passengers last year, has installed the self-service bag drop solution as part of its facility improvement initiative.
The solution simplifies the luggage check-in process at the airport by providing several ways for passengers to drop off baggage.
Instead of standing in a queue, passengers can print or download their travel documents, or use their mobile device and then move directly to the baggage drop-off area after arriving at the airport.
Toronto Pearson said that the recently concluded facility improvement initiative is part of a project that aims to improve the way passengers check in with their airlines and access security screening.

Last year, the company opened a subsidiary in Orlando, Florida, US, and provided a self-service bag drop solution to John Wayne Airport in California.
In January, Materna purchased Norwegian self-service bag drop solutions provider DSG Bagdrop.
With around 1,700 employees across Europe, Materna serves a number of public and private information technology organisations.
