Scotland's Edinburgh Airport has launched a six-week consultation seeking public feedback on its Masterplan 2016-2040.

The Masterplan draft sets out a framework for the airport's sustainable development until 2040, and outlines how it will meet growing demands for air travel to and from Edinburgh.

The plan does not cover the airport's Airspace Change Programme (ACP), which will have its own consultation in 2017.

Edinburgh Airport chief executive Gordon Dewar said: “At Edinburgh Airport our passenger numbers have grown more in the past three years than they did in the ten years previous.

"The activity at the airport generates almost £1bn per year for the Scottish economy while supporting over 23, 000 jobs."

“We’ve grown by one million passengers each year since 2012. We’ve grown our route network, serving more destinations and working with more airlines than ever.

“An independent study that was carried out earlier this year gives evidence to that – the activity at the airport generates almost £1bn per year for the Scottish economy while supporting over 23, 000 jobs.”

The Masterplan proposes a larger terminal building, expanded areas for aircraft parking and cargo storage, and a new road linking the airport to the Gogar Roundabout.
