Global consulting and technology company, Indra has been provided with contracts worth €30m ($32.04m) for the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) project, which aims to enhance efficiency, safety, punctuality, and convenience for air passengers.

Indra will lead the second phase of the project, named SESAR 2020, which is scheduled for execution over the next five years.

As part of the contract, Indra will supply new tools and upgraded capabilities to the 4D trajectory-based flight management systems, which will provide real-time flight data for the complete aeronautical community.

The company will also develop a wide range of common services for flight management personnel across Europe.

It will also deploy upgraded remote control towers, modern voice and satellite communication systems, as well as enhance air surveillance and guidance systems. 

Swedish airport operator, Swedavia has awarded a contract to deploy digital automated terminal information service systems (D-ATIS) and ATIS at eight airports in the country to Combitech, a Nordic technical consultancy company.

Combitech will deploy its D-ATIS and ATIS solutions, which provide air navigation services, at Stockholm Arlanda, Stockholm Bromma, Göteborg Landvetter, and Malmö Sturup airports and four other airports in Sweden.

The systems will also enable ATIS messages for data-link transmission and high-quality synthetic voice ATIS broadcasts, and allow pilots to use aircraft communications addressing and reporting systems (ACARS) to receive weather information quickly and easily before contacting air traffic control (ATC).

VINCI subsidiary Soletanche Bachy and Sambo E&C have formed a 50:50 joint venture to perform runway ground reinforcement at Hong Kong International Airport, as part of a €380m ($407.6m) contract.

The contractual scope includes the construction of a temporary 1,500m² metal platform around the approach beacons to the north runway, and soil reinforcement through Soletanche Bachy's Geomix technique.
