Real estate development and design-build firm Western is set to build a new corporate hanger at the San Antonio International Airport in the US.
Covering an area of 8.87 acres, the hanger is a redevelopment of the ‘Hawker Beechcraft’ site located off of John Cape Road.
The facility will include seven hangars ranging from 12,000ft² to more than 15,000ft², 28ft-tall doors, and attached offices on a number of units.
Construction work on the new hanger is expected to start this year with completion expected over the next one year.
Western is responsible for designing, building, financing, and leasing back the facilities to independent corporate clients.
The City of San Antonio aviation director Russ Handy said: “This $25m, multi-hangar development initiative is the largest single private/corporate capital project in San Antonio International Airport’s history.
“Partnerships like this are not just good news for the San Antonio International Airport but for all of San Antonio as the economic impact will be substantial for the entire region.”
Western client executive Alex Langlinais is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the project.
Currently based at Western’s recently opened office located at the airport, Alex will serve as the point of contact for all the company’s projects and developments and maintain relationships with clients in the San Antonio, Austin, and Houston areas.
Langlinais said: “We are excited to work on this new built-to-suit hangar development at the San Antonio International Airport. This is our first major project with the airport and we look forward to serving the people of San Antonio.”
