Star Alliance has launched a premium lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands. The lounge is located airside on the Panorama terrace level.

The new Star Alliance Lounge is open for eligible first and business class passengers along with Star Alliance Gold Card holders.

Paid lounge members of the Air Canada Maple Leaf Worldwide Club and United Club programmes can also access the new lounge from 8 March.

Star Alliance, working with Amsterdam-based architectural design firm D-Dock, has instilled the local essence of Amsterdam into the new lounge.

The design is inspired by the ever-changing Dutch landscape and includes furniture creations and decoration pieces of original Dutch design.

“Our new Amsterdam Lounge expands the network of Star Alliance branded lounges to eight and offers our customers flying from ‘De Dam’ a state-of-the-art lounge experience.”

Passengers can enjoy free Wi-Fi across the lounge, as well as a mixture of standard and USB power outlets for recharging electronic gadgets.

The lounge can accommodate up to 150 guests and features a luggage storage area, communal work table, individual work booths, dining area, bar, and relaxation area, along with a wine bar.

Additional amenities include a serviced bar during afternoon hours, beer on tap, a complimentary buffet with hot and cold meal options, flight information, as well as business services including printing and scanning, complimentary reading material and personal care amenities upon request.

Star Alliance customer experience vice-president Christian Draeger said: “Star Alliance has set itself the overall goal of improving the customer’s travel experience.

“Offering a premium lounge product is an integral part of this strategy. Our new Amsterdam Lounge expands the network of Star Alliance branded lounges to eight and offers our customers flying from ‘De Dam’ a state-of-the-art lounge experience.”

At Schiphol, Star Alliance has teamed up with Swissport company Aspire Netherlands to manage the first dedicated alliance lounge at the airport.

The lounge will mainly serve eligible customers of Adria Airways, Aegean Airlines, Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, Swiss, and TAP Air Portugal.
