UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies, has awarded a contract to Ducommun to build electronic assemblies for an upgrade to the braking system of an undisclosed commercial aircraft programme.

Value of the multimillion-dollar deal has not been disclosed by the company.

Ducommun has already begun producing the components at its operation centres in Wisconsin, Arkansas and Missouri.

"Our job remains to earn the confidence placed in us when UTC selected Ducommun as a long-term strategic supplier."

Ducommun chairman president and CEO Anthony Reardon said: “This new contract for the upgrade is a great example of how Ducommun is providing United Technologies with a broad range of capabilities in electronics manufacturing services and solutions.

“We have worked very closely with UTC to develop a very sophisticated electronics assembly that must work perfectly under all circumstances, including extreme operating environments.

“With this and all future programmes, our job remains to earn the confidence placed in us when UTC selected Ducommun as a long-term strategic supplier.”

Last year, the company signed a long-term supply agreement to provide complex electronic and structural assemblies and systems across UTCs aerospace business units.

So far, UTC Aerospace Systems has provided wheel and braking systems for more than 22,000 aircraft.

In August, the company said that it would provide its cloud cap technology TASE400 long range spotter (LRS) imaging system to Tulare County Sheriff's office in California, US, for use in its air support aircraft.
