The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT is a type of X-ray inspection system that scans checked-in baggage for explosives.
It has been developed to be integrated into existing baggage handling systems, which enhances efficiency by simplifying the scanning and evaluation processes of X-ray images.
To be operated at a high-belt speed, the HI-SCAN 10080 XCT has the capacity to scan approximately 1,800 items an hour.
Smiths Detection EMEA Region vice-president Barrie Foley said: "The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT is the most modern and most efficient product in this market and offers our customers a major new solution in planning and meeting future security needs.
"Combining two different technologies results in a much improved product and ensures that Smiths Detection maintains its leadership in high-quality security solutions."
The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT has been evaluated by the European Civil Aviation Conference in accordance with Standard 3 and meets all current regulatory requirements for checked-in baggage security inspection. The system has also received laboratory certification from the US Transportation Security Administration.
