Turkey’s Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport has selected air transport IT firm SITA to provide passenger processing and baggage reconciliation technology.

Under the deal, SITA will supply its AirportConnect Open to help maximise the real estate of the airport’s new domestic terminal, while offering its airlines a better solution for efficient passenger processing.

The new terminal officially opened in March and is now Turkey’s largest domestic terminal with an indoor area of approximately 200,000m².

The new solution supports both the common-use terminal equipment and passenger processing systems standards.

It will allow the airport, its airlines and their handling agents to access their respective IT applications in real-time on shared equipment. Staff will also be able to use any airport desk, gate or self-serve kiosk for passenger check-in, bag drop and boarding.

In addition, the airport will use SITA’s real-time baggage management application BagManage to help reduce the number of mishandled bags, along with its MaestroDCS Local system, which automates passenger check-in, boarding and other functions.

SITA will also continue to provide common-use and baggage reconciliation services for the airport’s main terminal.
