Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched a new intelligent inspection vehicle at Hamad International Airport to carry out security checks.

The vehicle has been initiated by the airport security department and passport departments, in collaboration with internal security force Lekhwiya.

The vehicle can check weapons, drugs and explosives that would help in improving the efficiency of security operations.

Airport security director Essa Arrar al Rumaihi said that the mobile vehicle would be able to move inside and outside the airport, which is spread across 30km, carrying a set of advanced electronic systems to screen travellers, travel documents, goods and boarding passes.

The car can detect all sizes of luggage for narcotic substances or explosive materials, while the onboard smart cameras will be able to capture 360° panoramic photos, as well as check anyone who may be carrying prohibited items.

The vehicle has been manufactured by Qatari cadres. The ministry had got a patent on this car registered under MoI and Lekhwiya.
