Kansas City Airport reports rise in May passenger traffic

Kansas City International Airport in the US handled 909,217 passengers in May, making a 0.1% increase in comparison with the same period last year.

Air cargo tonnages, which include both freight and mail transported by air, amounted to 15.7 million pounds, marking a year-on-year decrease of 10.8%.

"The airport had handled a total of 9.6 million passengers in 2013, which represents a decrease of 1.1% from 2012."

The airport handled a total of 15.2 million pounds in air freight, which represents a drop of 10.9%.

A total of 410,672lbs of handled air mail marked a 7.5% decrease in comparison with May 2013, while an average of 36,068 arriving and departing seats were available in the market each day, showing almost no change from last year.

Kansas City International Airport is a public airport, located 15 miles north-west of downtown Kansas City in Missouri.

The airport had handled a total of 9.6 million passengers in 2013, which represents a decrease of 1.1% from 2012.
