Fraport’s Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany has reported a 3.3% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in June, serving 5.6 million passengers.

Aircraft movements fell by 0.4% to 41,949 takeoffs and landings, while accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) increased by 2.3% to 2.6 million tonnes.

Cargo handling activity dropped by 3.5% to 178,384t compared with June 2013.

"During the first six months of 2014, the airport witnessed a new historic half-year passenger record."

During the first six months of 2014, the airport witnessed a new historic half-year passenger record, serving 27.8 million passengers, representing a 2.4% year-on-year increase.

Aircraft movements remained stable with 229,039 takeoffs and landings during the month. Deploying larger aircraft helped accumulated MTOWs rise 1.9% to 14 million tonnes for the airport.

FRA attributed this growth to increasing efficiency, ongoing replacement of aircraft, as well as flight timetable stability and reliability.

The Fraport Group’s portfolio of international airports also recorded a positive performance in the month.

Peru’s Lima Airport reported passenger traffic figures of 1.2 million and 7.4 million for June and the first half of 2014, respectively.
