The aerodrome certification of Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been renewed by the Bahrain Ministry of Transportation’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA).
The certification confirms that the airport meets the country’s aerodrome standards and certification regulations, CAR 001, as well as the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The certificate is valid for five years and confirms BIA aerodrome as being licensed and approved for international civil air traffic operations.
Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) chief operations officer Mohamed Thamir Al Kaabi said: "The renewal of the aerodrome certificate highlights the company’s focus on operating BIA in accordance with the international aviation regulations.
"Renewal of the certificate was granted following the assessment of BIA’s aerodrome by the CAA and confirms the readiness and operational capability of BIA and ensures that the landing field is safe and suitable for take-off and landing of international aircraft.
The certification is issued by the CAA to ensure that the authority law that determines international regulations and standards is enforced effectively at all international civil air traffic serving aerodromes in Bahrain.
