Indra is set to upgrade the air traffic automation systems for three air control centres operated by the air navigation services provider (ANSP) AirNav Indonesia, as part of a contract.
The company will install its new systems at the two control centres of Palembang and Pekanbaru, in Sumatra, and Tanjung Pinang in the Riau islands.

Indra’s new air traffic automation technology will help enhance aircraft security while managing a greater number of flights in the airspace.
In recent years, the company has also upgraded the country’s Jayapura control centre at Sentani International Airport, which handles flight movements in all of New Guinea; the Medan control centre in Juala Namu, which manages the air traffic of the Sumatra Island; and the Berau control centre, which controls traffic in Borneo.
Indra has also installed a network of radars to cover surveillance across nearly 70% of the Indonesian airspace, with the latest implemented at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The airport handles 55 million passengers each year.

By GlobalDataIn addition, Indra has incorporated secondary radars into the international airports of Yogyakarta, Pekanbaru and Padang, as part of the modernisation plan initiated by AirNav Indonesia.
Last month, Indra received a contract from the UK ANSP, NATS, to provide the newest interoperability Through European Collaboration (iTEC) technology to modernise the nation’s ATM systems.
