Under the terms of the deal, Ferrovial Agroman, in collaboration with US-based Saunders Construction, will carry out the construction work for the terminal’s Great Hall upgrade project.

Ferrovial Airports CEO Jorge Gil said: “We are very happy to have successfully achieved commercial closure of the project and to be able to continue working on the development and implementation of a new Great Hall that will provide numerous benefits for Denver and its community.

“We are grateful for the trust placed in our teams and we are fully committed to realising the vision for DEN and making it America’s favourite hub.”

The redevelopment of the 1.5 million square feet Jeppesen terminal will include works, such as the construction of new retail and food service areas, as well as the relocation and extension of the US Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) screening areas.

Other works to be carried out will include enhancing access and passenger traffic flow, building a new check-in area, and optimising space and efficiency in the terminal.

To be carried out under public-private partnerships (P3), the Great Hall project is the first work undertaken by Ferrovial Airports in the US.

The financial closure for the deal is expected to be attained in the fourth quarter of this year.

Earlier this month, Denver City Council gave final approval for upgrade and modernisation of the Great Hall of the Jeppesen terminal in order to improve security and enhance airport capacity.
