It allows travellers to print their own bag tags and directly load their baggage onto the accessible conveyor.

Swift Drop, part of SITA’s Smart Path passenger processing portfolio, features an intuitive interface, which enables passengers to swiftly check their bags and evade queues.

It includes SITA’s TS6 kiosk and Alstef Group’s completely integrated bag processing solution. For air carriers and airports, the technology detects oversized and overweight bags in seconds while they are on the conveyor belt.

Furthermore, camera tag-reading technology is said to facilitate quicker processing of baggage.

“The partnership with Alstef Group – leveraging their significant baggage handling portfolio – enriches our end-to-end offering with a fast, convenient and reliable self-bag drop solution. This solution has the added benefit of being easily biometrically enabled.”

Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico has become the first airport to deploy this solution, implementing 20 units.

Alstef Group Airport Solutions sales director Philippe Hamon said: “Taking the stress out of baggage is fundamental to any passenger’s journey.

“Our baggage processing solutions have been successfully implemented in hundreds of airports globally to do exactly that. It is therefore pleasing that we can extend these benefits to the whole passenger journey through our partnership with SITA.”

Earlier this week, Skyports partnered with SITA to use the latter’s solutions at its vertiport locations.
