San Antonio Airport System has appointed architecture and design firm Corgan for offering Airport Terminal Planning Services (ATPS) as part of the Terminal Development Program at San Antonio International Airport in Texas, US.

Services offered by the design firm is said to provide the groundwork for Terminal C.

Corgan and its project partners including Lake|Flato Architects and airport/transportation planners from Kimley-Horn will be responsible for developing a Program Definition Manual (PDM) that will serve as the basis for the Terminal C facility.

Corgan Principal John Trupiano said: “The San Antonio region has a rich history and diverse culture and the airport’s passengers deserve a quality experience that embraces this sense of place. We will be creating memorable, positive brand equity while enhancing the functionality and operations.

“We are excited to bring our people-centric design principles to this project.”

For this project, Corgan will offer architectural concept design for key components of the Terminal Development Program, to enable environmental reviews to begin immediately.

It will also provide updated cost estimates for those design components and make recommendations on project phasing and procurement strategies.

San Antonio Airport System Airports director Jesus Saenz said: “Planning for the continued growth and demand in the San Antonio region continues to be our focus.

“This firm is committed to assisting us in making important decisions now that will allow us to stay on schedule and budget throughout the next five years.”

Awarding of the new contract will kick-off for the new Terminal C facility and its enabling projects.

Terminal C is expected to be completed by 2028. Last month, plans for a $2.5bn expansion project at San Antonio International Airport were detailed.
