The RIWS is part of Leonardo’s portfolio of airport surface management systems, surveillance, enroute navigation and precision approach and landing systems.

It alerts the vehicle’s drivers to any potential hazards before entering the runway area and helps to prevent runway incursions while enhancing coordination between ground vehicles and overall safety.

According to Leonardo, approximately 3,100 airports across the world have commercial air carrier service while very less percentage have installed runway incursion prevention systems.

AeroBOSS, which has been developed for Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) and airports, helps to improve safety in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
