In the first 11 months of the year, the airport handled 65.8 million passengers. This marks a 3.4% fall from the same period last year, with 385,730 flight movements marking a fall of 1.3%.

According to data for the 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume dipped by 3% to 72.4 million while flight movements dropped by 1% to 422,835.

This August, the airport reported six million passengers and 35,655 air traffic movements, which is a decline of 12.4% and 3.5% respectively compared to 2018.

The decline was said to be caused by anti-government protests, which halted the airport’s operations for many days as protestors pressurised the government to respond to their demands regarding a now-withdrawn extradition bill.
