Upon airport arrival, travellers can proceed directly to security and reclaim their baggage at their final destinations.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) will be the first British airport operator to use the Airportr service within its own infrastructure.

MAG Airport Services CEO Andrew Harrison said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Airportr today, which will allow our passengers to streamline their airport experience through an efficient and secure process, meaning they can arrive at the airport with one less thing to think about and get ready for their trip.

“MAG is working hard to find new and innovative ways to enhance every step of the passenger journey through our airports, and this new partnership, which is a market first here in the UK, is another crucial development in that process.”

The collected baggage is directly sent to the airport for check-in and processing. To ensure safety, these bags will be processed in a separate facility away from the routine terminal check-in areas.

The service will utilise digital bag tags, allowing travellers to track the location of their baggage in real-time.

Passengers of Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, easyJet, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Finnair will be able to access the service.

Airportr founder and CEO Randel Darby said: “Our new airport-backed model raises the bar in terms of operational delivery and is designed to enable us to add more airlines to the future.

“This will open up home bag check-in to more passengers, key to our goal of transforming the passenger experience and airport operations.”

Depending on their location, passengers will be charged between £20 and £36 for one piece of luggage. For each additional bag, they will be charged an extra £7.
