With SelfPass, passengers can opt for a facial scan instead of pre-registration to ascertain their identity as mandated by the US Customs and Border Protection Traveler Verification Service.

The Traveler Verification Service retrieves passengers’ details, enabling them to board the aircraft through the auto boarding gate.

Collins Aerospace Global Airport Systems vice-president Christopher Forrest said: “We have a 20-year history of successfully collaborating with McCarran Airport and we’re ready to help them streamline the passenger journey even further with expanded use of our SelfPass biometric solution.

“SelfPass takes less than one second to capture and process a passenger’s facial image and eliminates the need to repeatedly present travel documents, making the process more efficient for both passengers, airlines and airports.”

SelfPass solution is already in use by one airline and will eventually be available to all 19 airlines.

In June, Collins Aerospace Systems entered a multi-year agreement with El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia, to protect from cyber threats.

Under the agreement, the company will deploy its full suite of ARINC airport solutions, also aiming to improve the passenger processing experience.
