Singapore Airlines (SIA) will upgrade its Silverkris and Krisflyer Gold Lounges at Changi Airport Terminal 3 (T3) starting from August 2019.

The redevelopment project, worth over S$50m ($36.9m), will result in 30% more space and total customer capacity for the T3 lounges.

Construction will be undertaken in four phases and the lounges will be renovated in sections, beginning with the business class lounge.

The second renovation will be on the First Class Lounge, followed by the Private Room and the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

Upon expansion, the business class lounge will feature four distinct zones catering to travellers with different requirements. It will have a full-service bar and breakfast station, productivity pods for work, and a rest area with chaise lounges.

The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge will double its capacity after renovation with dedicated working spaces, as well as larger seating and dining areas.

Renovations are expected to be completed by mid-2021, with customers having access to temporary lounges during the works.

SIA senior vice-president of customer services and operations Marvin Tan said: “With extensive research and feedback garnered from our customers, we have relooked and re-envisioned our customer journey to develop this new design concept for our lounges at T3.

“The project is a key part of our commitment to constantly elevate the customer experience, on the ground as well as in the air, and we look forward to revealing the exciting new offerings as construction progresses.”

Hospitality designer Hirsch Bedner Associates will oversee the revamp, giving each lounge a fresh look and feel, which SIA believes would be modern yet homely.

In January 2019, Singapore Airlines opened its new digital innovation lab as part of the SIA Group’s investment programme.

The lab, known as KrisLab, serves as a collaborative workspace for SIA Group staff to develop fresh ideas and co-innovate with external partners, start-ups, established incubators and accelerators.
