"With airline customer service agents available to assist passengers if necessary, this improved level of service speeds up the check-in process and makes it possible for passengers to avoid line ups at counters."

According to HIAA, the new passenger processing model was part of a project that upgraded the baggage handling and screening equipment.

As part of the ten-year project, the airport also renovated both the check-in halls to create more room for passenger flow, as well as new equipment and processes.
