According to Iraqi Ministry of Interior, the rockets were launched from two sets of trucks from the area of Taji, a town located 30km north of the capital city. No casualties have been reported yet.
An Iraqi official was cited by Press TV as saying that 13 rockets were launched but none of them struck the airport itself.
In a statement, security forces were quoted by AFP as saying: ‘A number of Katyusha rockets landed near Camp Al-Nasr (Victory), west of Baghdad’.
The rockets were reportedly targeted against Camp al-Nasr, a former US military installation known as Camp Victory, which is located around 5km away from the airport.

The airport complex has been targeted by the militants over the past years, however the commercial aviation traffic has not faced significant disruptions.
In January this year, a flydubai jet with 154 passengers on-board was struck by a bullet during its descent leading to the carriers stopping flights into Baghdad for several days.
According to casualty figures released by the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 1,325 Iraqis were killed and 1,811 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in August this year.
