BAE Systems has opened the RJ Mitchell Aircraft Maintenance Academy at Humberside Airport in North Lincolnshire, England.
Named after the inventor of the submarine Spitfire, the academy will provide apprenticeship to 60 candidates each year, and will create more than 150 jobs over the next three years.

The academy will be relocated from Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
BAE Systems Military Air and Information Combat Air managing director Martin Taylor said that the relocation would be completed in two years.
The academy includes four workshops, six classrooms and an accommodation block and is equipped to train the apprentices to cater to customer service.
Aircraft Maintenance Academy head David Talbot said: "The opening of the new academy provides us with a world-class facility to grow the next generation of aircraft maintenance technicians and ensure our customers have the right people for the job of keeping aircraft ready to deliver air power."

By GlobalDataThe training course is a two-year programme, wherein the first year will provide an in-house hand-on experience to the trainees and also develop their skills in Maths, IT and English.
Collaborating with the Humber University Technical College, the academy will provide City & Guilds Technical Diploma to the candidates in this one year.
In the second year, they will be trained for their Level 3 NVQ and will be based at either RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire or RAF Marham in Norfolk.
The programme ends with academics as well as practical training and the candidate might end up working at an air base either in the UK or in the Middle Eastern countries.
In September, BAE Systems commenced the construction of another training facility within the Lancashire Enterprise Zone in Samlesbury to train apprentices who join their Military Air and Information (MA&I) business.
The company also delivers rotary wing, fixed wing and advanced military flight trainings apart from providing Aviation Technical Training for ADF aircraft technicians at the Defence Aeroskills Training Academy at RAAF Base Wagga.
