Denver International Airport (DEN) in Colorado, US, has appointed a consortium led by Spanish company Ferrovial Airports to enter into exclusive negotiations for a public-private partnership (P3), in a bid to improve the airport’s Jeppesen Terminal.
Over the next six to eight weeks, DEN will carry out negotiations with Ferrovial to define the terms and scope of work for the initial pre-development phase of the project.

After work on the pre-development phase ends, the airport and city will make a decision whether to proceed with the long-term P3.
The 1.5 million ft² Jeppesen Terminal includes baggage claim, passenger ticketing, ground transportation, international arrivals, shops and restaurants, office areas, and Transportation Security Agency (TSA) security checkpoints.
The Jeppesen Terminal transformation will consolidate airline ticket counters, relocate TSA screening areas to level six, and upgrade the terminal’s baggage handling system, as well as enhance dining and shopping for passengers at the airport.
DEN is working with the TSA to design a more efficient and passenger-friendly security screening prototype.

DEN recently entered an agreement with US-based engineering services company CH2M, which will provide design and construction administration services for improvements adjacent to Concourses A, B and C.
