Admaterials Technologies is set to provide civil and construction materials testing for Singapore Changi Airport’s third runway project.

The project will be carried out under a new contract agreed upon by the laboratory with civil engineering company Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure – Sembcorp Design and Construction joint venture (JV).

Admaterials Technologies is part of UK-based laboratory-based testing company Exova Group, which was recently purchased by Element Materials Technology to develop one global testing services partner.

The project team will work from the company’s main laboratory and an on-site laboratory to carry out all testing related to the airport's third runway development.

The testing relates to soil, cement-treated base, concrete and steel bar materials, aggregate and in-situ density, in addition to nuclear density gauge and sand replacement and non-destructive testing.

"Our Singapore laboratory has played an integral role in many facets of the Changi Airport construction project."

Element Materials Technology infrastructure and environmental executive vice-president Matt Davies said: “Our Singapore laboratory has played an integral role in many facets of the Changi Airport construction project, and we are pleased to have secured a contract with Hock Lian Seng – Sembcorp JV for this phase of work.

“We have created a tailored approach to meet the requirements of the contract, including the development of an in-house method for testing the unconfined compressive strength of cement-treated base.

“This method will be accredited in September 2018 and the Singapore laboratory will be the first to receive accreditation and conduct the testing.”

Admaterials Technologies carries out testing in the construction sector, as well as provides chemical, environmental and mechanical testing and certification services.
