Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has announced plans to launch a year-round daily flights route to Israel’s Tel Aviv Airport.
This comes after the two countries established diplomatic ties with the signing of the Abraham Accords in Washington DC on 15 September.
Thereafter, on 19 October, Etihad became the first GCC carrier to run a roundtrip commercial passenger flight to Tel Aviv Airport.
Etihad Aviation Group COO Mohammad Al Bulooki said: “Following the signing of the new bilateral agreement, Etihad is delighted to announce a direct link between these important cities.
“The commencement of scheduled flights is a historic moment and as an airline, cements Etihad’s commitment to growing opportunities for trade and tourism not just between the two countries but also within the region and beyond.”
The new service will commence from 28 March 2021 and will promote business and leisure travel in both nations.
Departures will be timed to connect via Abu Dhabi to important gateways across the Etihad network, including India, Thailand, China, and Australia.
The company also stated that flying to, from, and via Abu Dhabi is being supported by the Etihad Wellness sanitisation and safety programme to ensure standards of hygiene are maintained throughout the customer journey.
