Swiss Air Force disposes of a new network for the recording and replay of aeronautical data. The systems, provided by the German ATC specialist COMSOFT, are operational on the military air bases of the Swiss Air Force

The German ATC supplier COMSOFT has equipped various military sites of the Swiss Air Force with the recording and replay system R2D2®. The implementation followed an agreement made with armasuisse of Switzerland, the Procurement and Technology Centre of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport DDPS.
R2D2 provides fully synchronised recording and replay of data and audio streams.

In compliance with current legal recording regulations, the recording functions are completely independent from other system functions, ensuring thus continuous recording. All sites are able to remotely operate the software and, from a technical point of view, allow controlled access to each other’s data.

The last system of the roll-out for the whole of Switzerland received site acceptance in late spring this year. The current interim period, with the old and new systems running simultaneously, is meant to build up consistent databases and ensures a smooth transition without data loss or discontinuity of services. The shutdown of the former system, therefore, is only a minor step for the Swiss Air Force on their way to state-of-the-art recording and replay functionalities.

COMSOFT GmbH was established in 1979 and has been active in the ATC domain for 20 years, having gained a world-wide reputation in this market.
