Airport security preparation furniture
Baker Bellfield specialises in designing and manufacturing security preparation furniture modules, to be located in landside security zones, for passengers to segregate liquids, aerosols and gels before entering security.
The company has supplied bespoke solutions for Heathrow Airport and Hamad International Airport. More recently, it has commissioned its own security preparation furniture designs for mainstream use.
These designs are ASIAD compliant, and take on board best practices learnt from previous work in this area.
Robust interiors and furniture for airport facilities
Baker Bellfield has gained a reputation for supplying robust, quality product, on time and within budget.
In 2012, Baker Bellfield was awarded a contract for the design, manufacture and installation of all check-in and associated desk / counter furniture packages for Heathrow’s new Terminal 2. We delivered more than 500 desks spread over 75 design types, and we are proud to say that all project milestones were met.
Since then, we have undertaken more than 200 airport projects, both nationally and internationally, and we continue to serve some of the world’s leading airports. Most recently, we were awarded a contract for the design, manufacture and installation of all ASIAD check-in and associated desk / counter furniture packages for Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2.
Designing airport interior and furniture solutions
Baker Bellfield’s design and engineering department consists of experienced airport product designers, mechanical design engineers for undertaking structural load calculations, along with chartered engineers for ensuring ASIAD compliance, and certifying the designs.
The company uses a Solidworks Pro modelling package with a vast library of assemblies, parts and components from previous airport interior furniture designs.
This includes a sophisticated product data management system ensuring engineering controls capture and process any project changes as they happen.
All airport interior furniture designs are compliant with ASIAD and fire ratings, and take into account structural load implications.
Baker Bellfield has over 75,000ft² of manufacturing incorporating metalwork, joinery and plastics processing equipment. Continued strategic investment into in-house capabilities ensures control of product from design, through manufacture, to installation.
We are approved fabricators for most of the leading solid-surface suppliers. This gives our customers the assurance that our work meets industry standards. In particular, our solid-surface fabricating meets the requirements as set out in the Design Performance Standards for Airline Desks (Heathrow Airport guidelines for designing and manufacturing airline desks).
Along with being ISO:9001 and International Rail Industry Standard (IRIS) certified, we are currently working towards ISO:45001 and ISO:18001 certification in 2020.
