Birmingham Airport and its passengers are already enjoying reduced queues and improved passenger check-in with the implementation of Rockwell Collins’ Self Bag Drop solution.

Chris Wilson, head of terminal operations at Birmingham Airport said: "The self-bag drop solution from Rockwell Collins is providing our passengers with the services they need to make their travel as easy and seamless as possible. Since the implementation of the first phase of 32 kiosks, queue times have decreased from 20 minutes to five minutes, which in turn has resulted in reduced transaction times from two minutes to between 35s-45s.’

The self-bag drop solution is also improving customer service at the airport, allowing airport staff greater flexibility to better assist passengers who need additional help. Next-generation, self-service passenger processing solutions are ensuring significantly increased efficiency for airports of all sizes.

The latest Rockwell Collins self-bag drop units in Birmingham can be managed by one member of staff to three-five kiosks, and deliver full check-in functionality for participating carriers. Passengers can self-scan boarding passes, print baggage tags and drop off luggage using the system, in addition to providing baggage payment options.
