Evolution of airport check-in systems demands more fluidity. ALSTEF designed, and commissioned an automatic baggage drop-off machine at Paris-Orly Airport in in November 2011. This state-of-the-art machine is based on an innovative concept defined by Aéroports de Paris offering improved passenger services by significantly decreasing check-in time.

Passengers print their boarding pass and bag-tags at the self-service kiosk, fixing the tags to their bags. At the automatic baggage drop-off machine they scan their boarding pass and place baggage inside. The door closes automatically and baggage is then fully checked before going into the traditional circuit. The process takes a maximum of 30s.

This machine guarantees a high security level based on a protected enclosure preventing unauthorised access to the hold baggage system. Its ergonomic design makes it easy to use, and is extremely fast. For those reasons, Aéroports de Paris expect to develop this concept further.
