INFORM’s GS RealTime system has recently been implemented to support the tasks carried out by the Lufthansa LEOS VIP services department at Munich Airport.

There are about 15 to 20 drivers per shift in the Leos VIP services department providing special VIP guests with luxury transfers in cars such as the Porsche Cayenne. These guests have to be taken between the aircraft and the terminal or, in the case of a transfer flight, from one aircraft to the connecting one as soon as they arrive and with minimum waiting time.

These tasks are characterised by their ad-hoc nature, and GS RealTime allows the planners to keep control of the situation and make optimal use of drivers and cars. The necessary information about each task is sent automatically from GS RealTime to the driver’s Blackberry. This way, special guests receive a fast and reliable service, and enjoy a short but extraordinary ride in a first-class car.

Lufthansa Leos and INFORM

Lufthansa Leos specialises in transport, engineering, maintenance and apron services and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik; it has locations in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Duesseldorf. Lufthansa Leos began its partnership with INFORM in 1992, when the first real-time allocation system was installed to control LEOS’ tow tractors at Frankfurt Airport. Later the tow tractors and crew buses were allocated centrally, and the system was extended to LEOS’ operation at Duesseldorf Airport.

GS RealTime has recently been implemented to support the tasks carried out by the Lufthansa LEOS VIP services department at Munich Airport. All information required, such as flight schedule data and base data, is processed by a central server in Frankfurt with the Munich operation connected via terminal-server. The results and all updates are immediately available on-screen in Munich. In this way the Leos Munich Airport operation makes use of efficient system support for its VIP services without having to establish an additional IT department.
