Gapura Airport Services has gone operational with INFORM’s demand planning and workforce management software at its check-in and boarding departments, as part of a major resource management system implementation.

In keeping with its mission for excellence in services and technology, in October 2015 Gapura decided to put in place an operational control system (GOCS) at 23 Indonesian airports. INFORM was chosen to implement a resource management system for the entire operation and the contract was signed by IT service provider PT Aero Systems Indonesia, (Asyst), which is a Garuda affiliate, during the kick-off ceremony last year.

The first phase of the project is now complete, with INFORM being responsible for implementing demand planning and workforce management for the Check-in and Boarding departments at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Demand and shift planning of about 600 employees is now underpinned by INFORM software. Once the project is complete, a total of some 6,000 employees will be supported and managed with the help of the system. About 2,100 of them are located at the pilot operation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"In my opinion, Gapura mainly benefits from the transparency it has gained by working with a tool that allows a complete overview of the operation. It is satisfying to see how our software meets the requirements of our clients all over the world," said INFORM project manager, Lars Boennen.

In preparation for the next phases, both Asyst and Gapura staff have been trained and enabled to undertake the second stage, which will be the system roll-out to all Gapura work areas at Soekarno- Hatta International Airport and 22 other airports in Indonesia.

As part of the huge change management process, Asyst has put in place a special intranet page to keep its employees updated on the progress of the GOCS project. The roll-out will be carried out by 12 teams, each consisting of an Asyst key user, who has the software expertise, and a Gapura staff member, who brings in the operational knowledge.

"It is astonishing to see how the different eastern and western cultures have come together to create a powerful team. It was a wonderful moment when the team delivered the first monthly schedule generated by the workforce management software to Gapura’s operations team," concludes Dwina Pharmajanti, project manager at Gapura, who at the same time expressed her gratitude to INFORM and Asyst for being Gapura’s partners.
