Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) in the US has installed a new Mamava lactation pod in Terminal A-West near Gate A-15.

The new pod, installed for breastfeeding moms on the go, follows the other Mamavas in the rear of the B-C food court and in Terminal F close to the food court.

Last month, the airport installed a Short Story Dispenser and opened the Quiet Room in the D/E connector.

“Our goals are to provide some 81,000 daily passengers with an enjoyable experience while they travel through our airport.”

The dispenser, a screenless, translucent glass kiosk, prints fiction stories that can be read in one, three or five minutes.

The Quiet Room, which is a silence zone, can be used by all passengers regardless of their culture and religious affiliation. Additionally, a footbath has also been made available for travellers who require cleansing before prayer.

Philadelphia International Airport CEO Chellie Cameron said: “We take pride in being more than a place to catch flights. Our goals are to provide some 81,000 daily passengers with an enjoyable experience while they travel through our airport.”

Located seven miles from downtown Philadelphia, PHL serves nearly 30 million passengers per annum. A total of 25 airlines, including all major domestic carriers, operate approximately 500 daily departures to more than 130 destinations across the globe.
