As part of its plan, the company has opened 16 parking spaces with eight charging stations in the public parking garage of the World Trade Center at Schiphol in Amsterdam.

The car rental company said that its car2go customers will now be able to collect or park an electric smart fortwo vehicle at the airport round the clock.

“With the opening of the car2go parking hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the company’s customers can now start or end their rentals at airports in 13 cities across Europe.”

Users can find the new car2go hub within walking distance from the terminal. By identifying the license plates of the car2go cars, the gate opens automatically and allows drivers to enter or leave the parking facility easily.

Car2go CEO Olivier Reppert said: “For us, Amsterdam is a very important and future-oriented market. It is one of our three fully electric operated locations and we are very happy to see how more and more people in Amsterdam are convinced of our sustainable and flexible carsharing service.
