US engineering firm Hill International has been awarded two contracts to offer airport management services at San Francisco International Airport.

The contracts were awarded by the City and County of San Francisco Airport Commission and have a combined value of approximately $6.4m to Hill International.

"This programme will greatly improve the operations and passenger service at San Francisco Airport."

As part of the deal, Hill will offer project management support services in relation to the temporary boarding area B and the security screening checkpoint area of Terminal 1 as part of a two-year contract.

Hill’s project management western region senior vice-president Michael Smith said: "We look forward to helping the airport commission reach the objectives of its capital programme.

"This programme will greatly improve the operations and passenger service at San Francisco Airport."

The first contract is part of the airport’s $1.7bn Terminal 1 redevelopment programme to improve airport capacity in response to passenger traffic growth, which is expected to reach 18.5 million passengers by 2019.

It is also agreed that Hill International will also offer the project management support services for other facets of the airport’s capital programme for three years.

Hill International has 4,200 employees in 100 offices worldwide and provides management and consulting services to the construction, environmental, energy and industrial markets.
