California-based Granite Construction has secured a $48m contract to rehabilitate Runway 7L/25R at Alaska’s Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
The federally-funded contract was awarded by the Alaska department of transportation and public facilities.

The rehabilitation work will be carried out in two phases, which will respectively cost $19m and $29m.
The project includes the rehabilitation of connecting taxiways, replacing and upgrading airfield lighting and signage, as well as the construction of new access roads.
As part of the contract, Granite crews will place over 225,000t of hot-mix asphalt and approximately 350,000t of borrow material.
Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2014 and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2015.
