Saab has announced plans to install two surface movement radars (SMR) and provide related services at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Saab will manage the required infrastructure works, as well as provide installation services, configuration and tuning, commissioning and training, in addition to an extended control and monitoring system.

Saab ATM general manager Ken Kaminski said: "With the new radars, the air traffic controllers at Changi will have the tools needed to efficiently manage the airport’s growing traffic."

The company has also installed its A3000 surface movement guidance and control system at the airport.

According to Saab, the A3000 system enables the integration of multilateration and SMR surveillance into a single display for air traffic controllers.

In June, Saab secured a new cooperative agreement from Nasa Aeronautics Research Institute to develop new methods to optimise flight efficiency.
