Ernst & Young will provide business adviser services to the Australian Government for the Western Sydney Airport Project.

Several firms such as Landrum and Brown, LEK and GHD will be brought together under the contract to support the government in the development of the airport by harnessing specialist aviation, design and commercial expertise.

Deputy prime minister Warren Truss has said that Ernst & Young will join Clayton Utz and Australian Government Solicitor, who are already working on the project.

"The project is about developing the infrastructure for the 21st century and creating new economic opportunities for the region."

"Ernst & Young’s role as the business adviser will be integral to the work of the government’s western Sydney unit," Truss said.

"The project is about developing the infrastructure for the 21st century and creating new economic opportunities for the region."

The government plans to invest $3bn into the project, which is a part of the western Sydney infrastructure plan over the next ten years that will involve major infrastructure upgrades to transform the region’s economy.

Truss also stated that the work to be undertaken will include developing a business case for a Western Sydney Airport, patronage forecasting, airport operation and design concepts, examination of funding and financing models, market sounding, in addition to airport costing and valuations.
