French airport authority Aéroports de Paris saw an increase of approximately 2.6% in passenger traffic in July, in comparison with the same month last year.

A total of 6.3 million passengers travelled through Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, marking an increase of 3.9%, while 2.7 million passengers travelled through Paris-Orly Airport, which shows a decrease of approximately 0.3%.

Aéroports de Paris stated that the passenger traffic was affected by Ramadan, which fell between 28 June and 27 July this year, and a decreased number of passengers travelled to and from Africa and the Middle East during this period.

Non-European international traffic witnessed an upward trend with a 2.1% increase, which is being attributed to the growth in destinations such as the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, South America and North America, which saw a growth of 7.8%, 5.2%, 4.5% and 1.95% respectively.

While European traffic increased by 5.2%, traffic within France decreased by 2.8%. Although the number of connecting passengers went up by 1.3%, the connecting rate decreased by 0.3% and stood at 21%.

The passenger traffic at TAV Airports, 38% of which is owned by Aéroports de Paris, increased by 8.4% in July and has risen by 12.4% since the beginning of the year.
