An IT glitch has caused delays for British Airways (BA) passengers at several airports.

Delays were experienced at the check-in, baggage drop, and departure areas.

The airline said it had rectified the problem.

"The check in system is now working and customers are being checked in as normal in London and overseas."

BA received several complaints on Twitter from travellers at airports in Boston, Atlanta and Chicago on Monday.

Passengers at airports in the Bahamas and Mexico also reported problems.

BA was quoted by CNN as stating: "We had a problem with our check-in systems which affected check in for some flights from the US, but this was not a worldwide issue and there were no cancellations.

This disruption was seen almost a month after Delta (DAL) experienced a computer glitch that led to around 2,000 flight cancellations worldwide, according to CNN.

British Airways issued an apology to passengers in July for causing delays at check-in desks at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) recently cancelled more than 1,000 flights due to an IT glitch.
