Taiwan’s Eva Air has announced the $10.1bn purchase of 18 A350-1000s and 15 A321-200neo aircraft from Airbus.

Eva Air currently operates 34 Boeing 777-300ERs, which are set to be replaced with the new A350-1000s. According to Airbus, the A350-1000 can fly from short to ultra-long ranges of up to 8,700nm.

Eva Air included fleet modernisation in its 2022 annual report.

Alongside this, the Taiwanese airline is also renewing leases on existing A321-200s.

The airline further reported its 2022 annual revenue of NT$127.1bn (US$3.94bn) which included a steep increase in cargo revenue of NT$90.3bn (US$2.8bn), representing a 6% year-on-year increase.

This announcement continues a successful year for Airbus, which confirmed 1078 orders in 2022.

This includes an order with Air France-KLM for a total of 50 Airbus A350 aircraft, with an option to purchase a further 40 aircraft. As previously reported, the deal is set to align with KLM’s plan to renew its older generation long-haul fleet with Airbus A350 family aircraft in the upcoming years.
