The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) plans to set up a temporary pop-up enrolment centre at Norfolk International Airport to enable local residents to apply for TSA PreCheck programme.

US citizens and permanent residents can enrol directly in TSA PreCheck screening programme, which allows passengers to bypass certain checks at select TSA airport screening lanes.

PreCheck passengers can leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case, and leave their 3-1-1 compliant liquids bag in their hand luggage.

More than 200 airports participate in TSA PreCheck across the US.

“Upon completing enrolment, successful applicants will be sent a Known Traveler Number (KTN) through the post, which is valid for five years.”

The new pop-up centre will be located in the arrivals terminal at Baggage Claim 2 throughout the week.

Travellers who wish to sign up for the programme are required to make an appointment online and complete their enrolment in-person, or as a walk-in at the application centre.

Once the pre-enrolment steps are completed, online applicants need to choose the location ‘Norfolk, VA’ to complete enrolment on-site at Norfolk International Airport.

An application fee is paid at the time of appointment by credit card, money order, or cheque.

Upon completing enrolment, successful applicants will be sent a Known Traveler Number (KTN) through the post, which is valid for five years.

Passengers should enter their provided number in the ‘Known Traveler Number’ field when booking flights.
