The Saskatoon Airport Authority (SAA) in Canada has approved a $53m plan to double the size of the airport terminal.
The expansion will increase the size of the existing terminal from 139,000ft2 to 266,670ft2, increasing the seating capacity incorporating comfortable seating areas, business stations and a fireplace.
The new terminal will have a pier design, featuring eight bridgeable gates along with three ground-load positions.
The expansion project, designed by architectural firm Kindrachuk-Agrey, is part of a ten-year, $105m Airport development plan.
The new terminal expansion project is scheduled to begin early 2012 and is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014.
