Bergen Airport in Norway has introduced the BLIP Systems queue management solution in an effort to improve wait time estimations, use of resources and the overall passenger experience.
The new BlipTrack technology calculates and predicts the number of people standing in line and for how long they have been waiting at various checkpoints throughout the airport.
The detailed, minute-by-minute measurements and predictions will enable the airport to better comply with agreed service levels and minimise queue build-up.
Bergen Airport director Øystein Skaar said: “We want to make travelling easier for our passengers. The implementation of BlipTrack will help to ensure that passengers experience a quick and easy passage through this stage of the journey, and significantly increase the opportunity for a positive experience throughout the airport.”
BlipTrack will provide the airport with live and empirical data insights on passenger queue times.
Using this information, the airport can monitor the queue line density at the security checkpoint. The system will allow airport management to respond promptly to disruptions.
In order to reduce stress levels associated with queuing, the airport is also planning to share the wait time information with passengers.
BLIP Systems sales manager Preben Andersen said: “With the new installation at Bergen Airport, BlipTrack has proven to be an effective platform to provide visibility on resource effectiveness for greater processing efficiency and improved passenger experience.”
