Airport operator Finavia has selected Amadeus to deploy its Cloud-based airport operational database (AODB) solution at Helsinki Airport and 19 regional airports across Finland.
The AODB solution is closely integrated with airline systems, enabling the airports to receive real-time updates about flights.
This timely information will allow airport stakeholders to allocate resources more effectively and better meet the requirements of travellers and carriers.
Finavia CIO Leyla Akgez-Laakso said: “Rolling out this new capability across Finavia’s airports will significantly improve our operational efficiency, helping us to better collaborate with our airline partners to improve on-time performance for passengers.”
The technology offers detailed visibility of travellers’ onward connections and will help the Finnish operator to easily allocate arriving aircraft to the best gate.
Implementation of the technology makes Finavia one of the first airport companies to operate its AODB from the Cloud.
Amadeus’ AODB solution will also allow Finavia’s management to access real-time views of the entire group’s operations from any device with internet connectivity.
The 20 airports in Finland will switch to the new technology in a phased manner over the coming year.
Amadeus Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) airport IT and airline operations vice-president Yannick Beunardeau said: “Amadeus already manages data for about 95% of the airlines that operate at Finavia airports, so we’re in a unique position to provide Finavia and its stakeholders with access to accurate, real-time data about flight plans and passenger connections.
“This deployment is a great example of an ambitious airport company looking to digitally transform and deliver closer collaboration with its airline partners.”
